GPP to yield practice

In this exercise, you are going to work with one growing season of NPP data. 

The task is to convert NPP into yield.

The Excel example assumes rice as a planted crop.

Questions to answer in the assignment:

• What is the temporal resolution of WaPOR data?
  • i.e. why do we have to make the averaging step before aggregating?
• What are the units of WaPOR NPP?
• What is the conversion factor NPP to DMP (gC_to_gDM_factor) based on?
• Can you deduct a set of formulas needed to convert NPP to yield?
  • hint: formula should contain, NPP, gC_to_gDM_factor, AGBF, HI, moisture_content
• What role does m2_to_ha conversion play?

Bonus task:

Download decadal net primary productivity (NPP) data for your field of choice from WaPOR and compute yield from it.
